The changeup pitch is the best attempt to fool a batter. The pitch is very similar to the fastball just thrown about 10 mph slower. To do this put all five fingers an equal width apart. If you don’t have a tight grip on the tips of your fingers it prevents the fingers from getting that last bit of speed as they snap down on the release of the pitch. The changeup has the same motion in terms of how to throw it it just goes at a slower speed. The objective is to trick the batter into thinking that a fastball is being thrown, and have the batter swing before the ball gets to the plate.
